Wrest Park

AC Handicap Tournament 16 May

report by manager George Collin

Reduced to one day for various reasons, four players had the luxury of no double banking and perfect weather. Three Wrest Parkers; Tim Nurse (6), Geoff Strutt (16), Peter Aspinall (12), plus Jonathan Lambton (Watford) (3). All-play-all, and after two rounds Tim and Jonathan both had two wins. In the final round Jonathan beat Tim +12. Jonathan's previous wins had been delayed by a knack of not quite setting up the peg-out, which he now topped by rushing partner onto the peg from a distance. Peter and Geoff's play-off for third place was a heavily time-reduced game, which Peter won +2.

Play was rotated between three lawns, allowing the non-playing manager George Collin to apply spot-treatment to the pearlwort on whichever was fallow.

Jonathan beat Peter +10

Jonathan beat Geoff +7
